Downtown at Dusk

Sorry for the lack of posts recently: partly I've been busy with school and partly I've been shooting more for the Chicago Maroon, our school newspaper. I finally found time to do some photography on Friday after I turned in one of my final papers. I decided to try for a shot I've been thinking about for a while (and partially inspired by this shot by Justin Kern). All along Lakeshore Drive there are overpasses where you can walk across the freeway. I really wanted to have the light streaks from cars on the freeway leading towards downtown Chicago in the distance. Unfortunately, its hard to find an overpass with an unobstructed view of downtown. I biked down Lakeshore drive and stopped at every overpass on the way, and eventually found this overpass on 35th Street. I really like the light streaks, but I wish there weren't tree branches in the way. I think I am going try a similar shot again soon from a slightly different location.

And don't forget about the Maroon's "people" pages with their collected photos/articles/etc.

They really need to make the site better-looking, though, and do something with the pages for photo. Because it just ends up looking like a bunch of photos crammed into a page for you guys.
