West Coast and Back Again

Below are a bunch of photos from Chicago and the Bay Area that I've accumulated over the last few months that don't fit into any particular category. Enjoy!

Tilden Views

I'm back in Chicago now but I have yet to post my last set of images from the Bay Area. These are from the Sea View trail in Tilden Park, where my photography bud and I witnessed a stunning winter sunset.   My telephoto lens was very handy for getting images of the Golden Gate Bridge and downtown San Francisco. Enjoy!

Occupy Oakland Port Shutdown

I made it down to today's Occupy Oakland protests, which involved a long march from downtown Oakland to the Port of Oakland. Of course, I brought my camera with me, but didn't get as many good photos as I would have liked because I was also on bike, and couldn't really lock it up anywhere. Lesson learned: next time I'll go without a bike (although it made getting home from the port much easier). In any case, the protest seemed to attract a pretty sizable crowd (I think I saw an article online that said there were 2,000 protestors, and that seems about right to me). I heard that some of the night shifts were called off because of the protests, so it seems that they were at least somewhat effective.

Miscellaneous

These photos didn't really fit in the 57th Street post but I still wanted to publish them. The temperature is in the single digits here; every time I go out to take photos I come back unable to feel my fingers, so postings may slow down a bit until things warm up. Enjoy!

P.S. If you want a short description of each photo click on in and you will be redirected to a Flickr page that contains a description.

P.P.S. I found a picture that I meant to put in the 57th Street post but somehow never did. I've added it to the end of this post.

Back to the Bay

I survived finals week and finished my first quarter at The University of Chicago! I'm on winter break now so expect more photos coming soon. To celebrate my return to the blissfully snow-free Bay Area, here is a photo I found in my library and realized I never posted on the blog. It is a panorama of downtown San Francisco from Treasure Island.

Panoramas

I often post panoramas on here, but they are usually much too small to make out and detail captured in them. I recently discovered CleVR, which allows you to dynamically view panoramas online. Here are a few interesting panoramas that I have uploaded. Note: All of the panoramas being scrolling automatically, which may slow down your computer. Try click on each one first to stop it from scrolling and only observing one panorama at a time.
