Winter Quarter Maroon Photos
I'm on spring break now and I realized I only wrote one blog post during winter quarter. I've been pretty busy shooting for the Maroon, which means I've had less time to shoot stuff purely for myself. Luckily I had some fun shoots for the Maroon this quarter - including one of Obama's former economic advisors and the former US ambassador to China! You can view all my photos published in the Maroon here, the ones below are a selection of my favorites from winter quarter.
Former Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers Austan Goolsbee returned to his position as a professor at the Booth School this fall after spending two years in Washington. I only had a minute for the posed portrait but luckily there was nice light coming from the window and his crazy bookcase made for a great background ("Univariate Discrete Distributions"? Wowzers).
The Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.
The cover for DJ Yoni's new album "Fire". (This one wasn't actually for the Maroon)
The Slide Ride and the Samich Boxs are two of the many food trucks that have begun to regularly visits the University of Chicago campus. These were done for our quarterly magazine "Grey Citiy" (which should be online soon - I'll post a link when it is).
Local chef Betty Nichols shops for ingredients at a local supermarket. Also done for Grey City.
Last but not least - former US ambassador to China Jon Huntsman is interviewed by the Chicago Maroon. This was especially cool for me since I got to speak to him in Chinese a bit (and the reporters got it on tape =P ). This last shot was a 10 second "stand against this blank wall and smile" portrait, but luckily it turn out pretty decent. I only had time for one shot of him posing by himself before his assistant whisked him away.
More photos soon to come...
